Being stuck in the past

Being stuck in the past

What made us stay stuck in the past?

Maybe this has happened to us, never, twice, or more than once. Causes of this can vary, wether its because you’ve lost a loved one. Went through a heartbreak, or in general, a difficult time in your life. You said or did something you’d give anything to go back in time and un-do.

Signs of being stuck in the past

Some signs that you may be clinging to the past include not being fully present, acting as if you’re still living in a previous iteration of reality, not feeling inspired, or finding it difficult to get excited about things that used to really do it for you.

These things, scar us, not just leave

Maybe you’ve experienced all three. These are the kinds of experiences that leave a scar in your identity. And while some people can accept them and move forward, others find it hard to let go.

No one is saying you should forget your past. Your experiences and memories make you who you are. But there is a difference between paying a visit to the past and staying with is, until you are stuck.

What is being stuck in the past?

Being stuck in the past, is thinking the same way you used, acting as if whatever it is that has scarred you, happened just now, or yesterday. Its the incapability, of moving your mindset, to realize, what has been done, is done.

Here’s how author Joe Dispenza puts it:

“When your body and mind are both living in the past, then your thoughts and emotions are rooted in negativity and impossibility. And when this mindset becomes a habit, your mind and body are both stuck in a loop — of negative thoughts and emotions.

These loops can be debilitating at times and keep you from achieving your goals, feeling happy, and making good decisions.”

We have to move past

We have to move past that. If we begin to think in the same mindset, as before, the traumatic event happened. We can easily become depressed.
