Hey! My name is Lilly! I am 14 years old, and I love writing, whether it is articles, short stories.

I was born in Ireland,Cork but my parents are from Poland! They moved to Ireland in 2005 and then in 2008 I was born! I am currently living in Midleton. I have two dogs, both Labradors. One black which is the youngest called Bruno. And the eldest Sprocket a white one. And of course my cute old hamster called Mimi! I am attending a all girls catholic school in Carrigtwohill called Saint Als. I am a second year year and very much love the school!

One of the other things I like doing is playing this video game called minecraft. I think it is a very creative and fun game! I have explained how the game works in my article Children under thirteen should not be allowed on Social Media. I absolutely love writing articles and stories and English in general. I very much enjoy writing it is something i just cannot live without. It helps me calm down and focus on what I’m writing instead of all the problems I have in my private life. It helps me to wind down and I just fully enjoy every moment of it.

Why and what I chose to write

You’re probably wondering why I’m writing this. Well it’s because maybe I am young but I do know what horrible things are happening to our world. I know about climate change, fossil fuels, plastic. Some people think it’s some fake news well to those people who think that I mean look around yourself look at how much plastics there are in your home, shops and many other places. You might remember what u did this summer or the summer in 2020, well most people stayed home because of corona virus but let’s say u went on holidays like me! You might realise some days it was too cold one days too hot you might probably also see it know in a normally day in one country it might rain too much and in another it might be too sunny.

Some of you are also probably wondering what is causing climate change well the answer to that is simple.. Factories but what is produced in those factories you ask? Well energy to make your house warm to make your water warm people I he factories burn wood, coal etc.

So as you probably heard before don’t waste water. Now you may also ask how is burning things like wood hurt our planet well this is a also simple question! Basically all that smoke from the burnt coal or wood goes in the air, have you ever seen a fireplace like a BBQ you use a little fireplace to cook your sausage’s well it’s basically like that but way bigger and ruins our planet much more!!! Now how do we help with that?? You can turn off the lights in your room if its light outside don’t use that much water, instead of putting the dishes in the washing machine take a little time and wash them yourself maybe not using so hot water, because small things make a huge difference and if we all help then I’m very sure the earth will be such a nicer place to live in for the animals and for us humans!

My background story is pretty simple not gonna lie! It all started when I was 9 years old so 3 years ago. I was lying in bed just chilling you know and then I get a piece of paper and started writing. I started writing about climate change and about animals that are gonna become extinct because of humans. I wrote about them because I heard a lot about it on the TV and all social medias although I didn’t have much social media at the time. I did know a lot because after I kept hearing it on the TV I also asked my parents about it quiet frequently and I researched it ( I know I was a nerd then and possibly still now). But after I started writing I couldn’t stop , eventually after I got tired because I was writing for 1 hour or so and wrote 5 full A4 pages. In the morning I think I went and showed my parents they were very surprised and didn’t want to believe I wrote it ( to be honest I was very surprised myself and proud).

2 years later so 2 years ago I wrote to one of the men Polish Presidential Election candidates who I thought should win and told him why (the reasons was he was very much aware of climate change and etc) he sadly did not respond instead his secretary did. I read out to my granny’s what I wrote and they were shocked and also did not believe I wrote it , eventually they understood that it wasn’t a joke and it was my letter.

A few months later my parents had an idea to write blogs and encouraged me. My dad made me an account on webador and then he saw how good I was getting on and that my articles were getting better and should get developed and seen so he made me my own blog page and here I am!
