As you may have known on the 11th of February so a day ago we found out a young boy was found dead. The boy’s name is Wiktor and was 12 years old. He died when the car he was driving collided head-on with an articulated lorry. It is said he was driving a grey coloured Nissan Qashqai owned by his family.
Who was his family?
The boy whose mother, Ewa, and father, Bartosc, settled in Newcastle West after emigrating from their native Poland, was a first-year student attending Scoil Mhuire agus Ide, in the town, and a past pupil at the local Gaelscoil O’Doghair.
Where did it occur?
The crash happened close to a roundabout on the Limerick side of Adare village on the busy N21 route connecting Limerick with Co Kerry. Emergency services were called before 2am this morning.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken d to University Hospital Limerick.
His school was very upset because of this loss the pirincipal of Scoil Mhuire agus Íde in Newcastle West said this incident was a “terrible tragedy” for the Chojecki family. “We are deeply saddened by these events. Our sympathy and thoughts are with Wiktor’s family and friends,” Had said the principal Sean Lane. Mr Lane added that Wiktor “will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”
The driver of the lorry, a man in his 40s, was not hurt badly, the gardai are still investigating this incident.
What does the gardai have to say about this?
They are strongly urging for any witnesses to come forward, in particular road users who may have camera or dashcam footage and were travelling on the N21 near Adare area at the time of the incident.
