Seal rescue Ireland is a rescue center that helps save seals. They made this rescue center mostly because a lot of plastic is put into the ocean and they might eat it or they might get tangled in nets that got thrown in the ocean and they get hurt because of that .
This rescue center is trying to help all those seals who might get hurt so what they do is when someone might see a hurt seal on shore of a beach they call them and then members of the rescue center that live pretty close to the area go and check out the seal. They look very closely and then the information that they have they tell the main people there at the center. If the seal needs help they get a cage and put the seal in there of course very gently and slowly so the seal doesn’t get scared . If it does not need help they help it go back to the ocean. All members also have to do a small course so they can recognized which one is a grey seal and a common seal, on the course they also explain what to do when there is a hurt seal on the shore and what not to do in a situation.
They also explain how a seal is feeling for example if they are shaped like a banana that means they are happy a different example is they make these weird noises when they are scared and trying to make you go away. You might be still wondering how do you get the seals in the car well what they do is they get some sort of blanket or towel and throw that over them and then roll them up with it then they make a whole so the seal can see and breather because if the seal cannot see it will get very stressed out.
The rescue center also planst trees to prevent erosion and stop pollutants from flowing into our waterways. I personally think this is such a good idea and in 2020 they have plannted about 3,800! This is such a goof way to help the planet and it makes me so happy that there a re people out there who are willing to help our mother nature.
You might be thinking why am I talking about this I should be doing it too , well i’m actually doing it ! Its not a long story so i will tell you guys! It all started when my mom got really into all this veterinarian stuff she found this place that helped seals and straight away she wanted to sign up. She became a member and did the course on paper and in the real center because there wasn’t any covid 19 back then. She was over the moon that she was a member and she was so happy because she got to help release two seals. After a while i really got into it too and my mom encouraged me to join so that’s what I did. I did the course but online and became a member.
Two weeks ago me and my mom got a call from the center saying that there was a seal on the beach needing help because some lady and man found it . The lady and the man put a poster to keep dogs on leash because there was a seal me and my mom thought that was very king and thoughtful thing to do. We came over to the seal and my mom inspected the seal and then rang the center to tell them how she looked and what type of seal she was. It turned out we had to bring her with us in the car all the way to Dungarvan oh and I forgot to say that we found her in Guillen , East Cork. The lady and the man were so kind that they helped us put the seal in our boot it was a few days till Christmas so me and my mom were thinking that were basically doing kind of like a early Christmas miracle for the seal. It was so cool having a seal in our boot but we saw that she was sneezing and there was water coming out of her nose so we assumed she had a cold because she was laying out on the beach for a few days and it was really cold so we weren’t surprised. Wen we reached Dungarvan we dropped of the seal to a different pair of members after that we headed home. When we got home we got a message that the seal was all safe and at the center. A few weeks after Christmas we got some pretty bade news … The news was that sadly the seal did not make it , we were all very upset but we were happy that she at least had a few minutes of Christmas before she passed away.
I’m so grateful that a community like this exist and I very much recommend signing up and becoming a member.
