Well to that question there is no specific answer because there is always time for change. There are about 31,000 polar bears in the world right now which you might think is alot but they are decreasing very fast. They are decreasing because they live on ice and snow is melting.
Climate change is making polar bears going very close to being extinct. Polar bears could become nearly extinct by the end of the century as a result of shrinking sea ice in the Arctic if climate change continues. Another reason polar bears are going extinct is if greenhouse gas emissions. Polar bears will probably be extinct by 2100. Further, polar bears are likely to experience reproductive failure by 2040, reducing the number of offspring needed for population maintenance.
Polar bears live in the Arctic, but not Antarctica. Down south in Antarctica you’ll find penguins, seals, whales and all kinds of seabirds, but never polar bears. Even though the north and south polar regions both have lots of snow and ice, polar bears stick to the north. Now you might think how you can help well here are some ways you can!
- Volunteer your time.
- Help fight climate change.
- Raise money for an environmental charity.
- Repairing a sanctuary for polar bears.
- Fundraising for an arctic expedition.
- Dont use much plastic because that can end up in their region.
